Brazil's panics have a long record of paying the people who buy into them.
Brazil's main ETF (EWZ) fell 19.8% on Monday after the presidential runoff, its worst day since March 2020 and worse than any day in 2008. After the nine earlier days on its list of 10 worst drops since 2000, the median gain a year later was 38%, with eight of the nine higher.
Most of those nine came during the 2008 and 2020 global crises. This time the S&P 500 rose on Monday, so the damage stayed in Brazil.
The catch is the first month, which averaged a 2% loss.
