Introducing Silvia Legacy: Prepare Your Financial Life for the People You Choose

Introducing Silvia Legacy, with the controls for adding a person and choosing when Silvia checks in after inactivity.
AI ProductPublished Updated

Silvia Legacy is a private, consent-based way to prepare a financial package for trusted people if you stop using Silvia for an extended period.

Important financial information is often spread across accounts, documents, conversations and the memory of one person. That creates a difficult question: if that person can no longer manage the household’s finances, how will the people they trust know what exists and where to begin?

Silvia Legacy helps organize that handoff. It is a consent-based feature for the people you choose, not a legal determination of next of kin and not a substitute for a will, trust, power of attorney or professional estate planning.

Choose the people who should receive the package

The Legacy setup allows up to three people. They can be a spouse, partner, child, parent, sibling, grandchild, other family member, friend, attorney, executor or another trusted person.

Silvia asks each person to confirm their email before anything could ever be shared. If a package is released, each recipient must confirm their identity with a photo ID and a live selfie, and the name on the ID must match the name the owner entered for them. Adding a person does not disclose the owner’s finances.

You choose the inactivity period

The available inactivity periods are 60, 90 or 180 days, with 90 days as the default. Activity includes signing in, opening the app, chatting with Silvia, or texting or calling her. Automatic account synchronization does not count as activity because it can continue without the owner being present.

Once the selected period passes without activity, and at least one person has confirmed their email, Silvia begins checking in by email, and by text if you have turned texts on. There are three check-ins, one week apart. If none is answered, Silvia sends a final notice and waits at least seven more days.

Using Silvia, tapping “I’m okay” in any check-in or turning Legacy off stops the process at any time before release.

Automatic release requires explicit agreement

Turning Legacy on requires the owner to agree to the automatic-release process. The agreement explains the inactivity period, three check-ins, final notice, seven-day wait and identity verification.

No one at Silvia approves a release. Staff can only pause sharing while trying to reach the owner. The feature is designed around the owner’s recorded instructions and the defined sequence.

What the package contains

Every Legacy package includes a summary of the owner’s finances and a spreadsheet of what is stored in Silvia. It also includes the documents, spreadsheets and research reports Silvia has made, unless the owner chooses to leave them out.

Chat transcripts are separate and off by default because conversations can be personal. The owner must choose to include them. A personal note can be printed near the beginning of the package.

The more complete and current your accounts and documents in Silvia are, the more useful the package can be.

Secure access, limited time

Recipients receive a secure link only after the full process completes. They must verify their identity before access. The recipient flow keeps the package available for 90 days and continues reminders until the recipient verifies and downloads it.

After release, the owner’s Legacy settings are frozen. That protects the integrity of the package and the recorded instructions used to create it.

How the owner stays in control

  • Legacy remains off until at least one person is added and the owner agrees to automatic release.
  • The owner chooses 60, 90 or 180 days before check-ins begin.
  • Silvia’s work and chat transcripts are separate choices; transcripts are off by default.
  • Using Silvia, tapping “I’m okay” or turning Legacy off stops the process before release.
  • The owner can download their own package from the Legacy settings area.

Find it under Settings → Legacy.
